Welcome to the RAAED website. RAAED stands for Residents Against Airport Expansion in
Delco (Delaware County, PA). Our organization was formed in response to the proposed
Capacity Enhancement Program (CEP) for Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). This CEP
was sponsored by the airport owner (City of Philadelphia) and furthered by the Federal
Aviation Administration (FAA). Specifically, our organization aims to draw attention to this
situation, expose the truth, and accomplish the following:
1. The negative impacts stretch far beyond Tinicum Township
and even Delaware County. In fact, even Philadelphia and the
FAA admit that this airport has a negative NATIONWIDE impact.
2. The City of Philadelphia contributes to the chronic delay
problems at PHL by actively soliciting airlines and flights it
knows the airport lacks the capacity for. They then try to
capitalize on the delay problem to justify their “Master Plan”.
3. Philadelphia is on record as refusing to work with other
available airports to alleviate congestion delays in an effort
to retain all airport related revenue and jobs.
4. Philadelphia owns another airport, with runways capable of
handling commercial aircraft, but refuses to use this location
as well.
5. The FAA’s report is inundated with inaccurate and disturbing information.
As you navigate through our site ask yourself: Has your or a family member or friend’s
flight into or out of PHL ever been delayed? Have packages delivered to you arrived
late? Have the cost of goods and services you pay for risen? If the answer is yes (and it
probably is), you might be surprised to learn that delays at PHL are a primary cause. You
may also be surprised to learn that these delays could already have been reduced or
